Continuing to fight for the best interests of all Western Australians.
It is a great privilege to serve the people of Western Australia since being sworn in as Senator on July 7 2014.
I continue to work hard to ensure all Western Australians have a strong voice in Canberra.
Critical Minerals in Western Australia
For the past five years as Senator for Western Australia, I have tirelessly advocated for the critical metals industry in WA. The strategic importance of this industry is now at the forefront of discussions between Australia and the United States. I have raised this with representatives from NATO, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and during my visit to the USA this year.
Western Australia mines over 50% of the world’s lithium supply and produces all the other minerals which are key for developing technologies including phones, electrical vehicles, robotics, and defence applications.
WA Defence Industry Going from Strength to Strength
Western Australia is strategically important to our nation’s defence, facing the Indian Ocean and a gateway to our west and north. As a result of the Coalition Government’s $200 billion investment in defence capability over the next decade, WA’s defence industry is booming.
This did not happen by magic, but is the result of the industry- led advocacy of the WA Defence Industry Council. Senator Reynolds is proud to have co-founded this body with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA. By working alongside the Commonwealth Government the Council has been able to deliver for Western Australia.
