Great news for Gosnells as brand new Sutherlands Park hockey facility opens

Liberal Senator for Western Australia Linda Reynolds has welcomed the opening of a brand new hockey facility in Sutherlands Park.

Senator Reynolds said she was delighted to see another Liberal National Coalition election promise being delivered for Western Australians and the opening of the project marks an important day for the city of Gosnells.

“It is so exciting that the facility is finally open to allow the people of Burt to play locally in a world class standard facility.”

“The brand new facility has high quality synthetic hockey turf which has a built-in irrigation system, fencing, flood lighting, public seating and player shelters.” Senator Reynolds said.

“The Morrison government is focused on increasing accessibility for Western Australians and their families and I am delighted that this will better the lives of those living outside the city of Perth.”

$1.3 million of funding was secured by the Federal Government towards the project through the government’s Community Grants Program.

The facility is the first of its kind in Perth’s south-east and Southern River Club President John Heath said he was delighted about its opening.

“This is absolutely fantastic for the community and wonderful for the kids coming through playing hockey,” Mr Heath said.

“It means a lot for hockey in the South east corridor to have a stadium fit for the best in the world.

“This means we can host not only our home games, but also international games.”
