Senator Reynolds refers new information to ASIC

WA Liberal Senator Linda Reynolds has today written to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in relation to additional information she believes is relevant to the Senate Inquiry and report into the Future of Rugby Union in Australia.

The report, tabled in the Senate on 15 November, included two recommendations for ASIC to consider the evidence provided to the committee in relation to the Australian Rugby Union and whether the ARU Board’s conduct and management constituted a breach of fiduciary duties or any other breaches of the Corporations Act 2001.

Senator Reynolds said recently published media articles have included information that appears to contradict the evidence provided to the committee by officials from Rugby Australia, formerly known as ARU.

“I believe an ASIC investigation into the matters raised in the Senate inquiry report and now the additional media reports is the only way to get answers for Western Australians on the circumstances that led to the culling of the Western Force,” Senator Reynolds said.
